Following concerns surrounding the spread of Giant Hogweed along the River Don catchment, I wrote to Aberdeenshire Council to establish what actions are being taken to control the spread of invasive species.
It is encouraging to hear of the new and innovative approaches that are being taken to control the spread. However, to avoid further spread of invasive species in areas outside of Aberdeenshire Council control, the Scottish Government need to be clearer on what action they are taking and what funding is available to help stop the spread.
I have written to the Scottish Government to ask what plans they have to tackle the spread of invasive species in Scotland.
