Recently, along with other rural Members of Scottish Parliament I welcomed the President of the National Farmers Union Scotland to Holyrood to discuss their policy vision for 2021 to 2024.
Through the report, Stability-The Platform for Change, the union has proposed forward-thinking measures that it believes will enable Scottish agriculture to use lower carbon and more efficient systems, thus promoting productivity and continuing to work towards environmental and climate change ambitions.
As we move closer to our net-zero emissions goal, it is important that the Scottish Government recognizes that the development of a new agricultural policy that supports our farmers and food producers, emphasizes productivity and resilience, and properly rewards the delivery of public goods.
