Recently, I chaired the first joint meeting of the Cross-Party Groups on Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy & Efficiency. The meeting was a huge success due in part to the excellent speeches delivered by Claire Mack from Scottish Renewables, Matt Abraham from Oil and Gas UK, Alan MacLeay from Subsea7, Stuart Young from ABB, Scott Hamilton from Xodus Group and Martyn Link from Wood.
Their speeches fostered a productive environment for the discussion of the transition from oil to renewable energy. Topics of discussion included transferable skills and building supply chains with the aim of fostering efficiency as the Scottish Government continues to work towards sustainable practices. With both sides continuing to work together towards common goals, the future of Scotland’s energy industry is promising. I am looking forward to continued collaboration and many more meetings with the Oil & Gas Cross-Party Group.
