During recess, I enjoyed a great weekend in Mull with my family, exploring the beautiful scenery and understanding how the local community depend on tourism for business growth and security.
My family and I spent time touring the area and visiting Duart Castle, as well as watching the local pipers and dancers, well done to all the young pupils who took part – I’m sure my dancing would not match up by a long w...ay!
Following our time in Mull, we had the privilege of touring the subterranean power-generating turbines hidden deep within Ben Cruachan mountain. The expert guides showed us around and told us all about the history of Cruachan, from its initial construction to its current role generating on demand electricity for Scotland.
As Aberdeenshire West is also a constituency with communities which depends heavily on tourism, I have a great deal of admiration for those who work incredibly hard to highlight their heritage, showcase culture and modernise to ensure their businesses and economy continue to grow and develop.
Thank you to everyone who hosted my family and I, for a truly magnificent weekend.
