My colleague Graham Simpson MSP has lodged the final proposals for his Removal from Office and Recall (Member of the Scottish Parliament) Bill.
This bill will make it easier to remove MSPs who don't carry out their duties and bring Parliament into line with local authorities.
This bill has become necessary after former SNP Minister Derek Mackay shamefully stayed on as an MSP for 15 months after it emerged he had sent 270 text messages to a teenage boy and was forced to resign as Finance Secretary. During this time Derek Mackay continued to collect a full salary and claimed expenses together amounting to over £150,000 despite not attending any meetings or votes in parliament.
