People have been in touch with me to raise their concerns on new fire alarm regulations which come into force on the 1st February 2021. The lack of communication by the Scottish Government on these new requirements for home owners is completely unacceptable.

The legislation includes:
•One smoke alarm installed in the room most frequently used for general daytime living purposes
•One smoke alarm in every circulation space on each storey, such as hallways and landings
•One heat alarm installed in every kitchen

I have also asked the Scottish Government what consideration will be given to those who are shielding or have concerns regarding the installation process in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
