The Scottish Conservatives have launched our Fair Share for the North East campaign with a mini-manifesto to properly fund local councils and rebuild the economy after the impact of coronavirus.
Even before the pandemic, our councils have been underfunded and overstretched. From 2007 to 2019, the SNP Government’s budget increased by 14% - but they only increased the grant to councils by half of this, just 7%, over the same period.
This means vital services such as schools, roads, infrastructure and housing are missing out and is forcing councils such as Aberdeenshire to make unwanted cuts.
That is why I have made it one of my 5 pledges for Aberdeenshire West to ensure YOUR local community can get the funding you've been refused for so many years by this SNP Government.
Our North East manifesto pledges would create new jobs and invest in the economy, deliver a fair deal for local councils, and upgrade local roads and railways.
