During March 4 to March 8, Scotland celebrated its 12th National Apprenticeship Week. I was proud to recognise Kyle Mair for being shortlisted as Apprentice of the Year in the Trade Awards 2018.
Kyle is an apprentice, currently studying at North East College Scotland and working at Bancon Homes. Kyle has consistently shown his great work ethic and enthusiasm for learning throughout his four years at college.
Jamie Tosh, the Construction Director at Bancon Homes, complimented his notable efforts, “We find his application and acumen to exceed our expectations on a daily basis. Through working with a more experienced partner, Kyles blends in technically and is clearly beyond his current academic stage. He is an asset to any squad, a quick learner and a pleasure to have on site. Kyle is working in a squad of two on one of our higher specification housing developments which includes oak stairs and finishings. The reason for putting Kyle on this development is that his eye for detail and finish is exceptional.”
We are lucky to have such a hardworking, talented individual serving as an apprentice in our North East region. I know how valuable apprenticeships are for our work force and continue to support initiatives to encourage these educational experiences. I look forward to hearing of Kyle’s future success, and hope future apprentices aspire to share his passion and enthusiasm for work.
