Yesterday I wrote to the First Minister after official spokesman claimed pro-union parties were embarking on "a clear denial of democracy".
These comments are clearly beyond what the code of conduct for special advisers allows and I’m very disappointed by Nicola Sturgeon’s response. These are very specific and exaggerated accusations against Unionist politicians that don’t hold any basis whatsoever.
Now we know another official, the Scottish Government’s director of strategy and external affairs, was filmed boasting that his job is about “breaking up the Kingdom”. Civil servants are meant to be politically neutral – not pawns pushing the SNP’s propaganda and acting on issues outside of the Scottish Government’s lawful competence.
