Alan Turner has lived in Stonehaven for almost all his life. With a background which is a combination of Stonehaven and Durris, his family have both lived and worked in the area for over a century. As a family, since 1928 they have been continually associated with the Stonehaven beach front area.
Growing up in the Brickfield area, Alan went to Arduthie Primary School. When it opened, he transferred to Mill O’ Forest primary school, before spending four years at Mackie Academy. After studying engineering at the Aberdeen Technical College and The Robert Gordon University he proceeded to work within the oil and gas industry for what has been almost thirty years. Like his father and grandfather, both of whom were local millwrights, Alan has over the last few years run his own engineering consultancy business.
Among his other interests are being a member of Stonehaven Golf Club, reading, metalwork, woodwork, and walking with his wife and dog.
