Flooding Preparation

As MSP for Aberdeenshire West, I have seen firsthand the frequent flooding in the area and understand its devastating impact - the photo above is taken in Kemnay, an area in my constituency that has experienced flooding in the past. It is vital to protect our rural communities from floods. With autumn quickly approaching, now is the time to review your household’s flood resilience and ensure your property is prepared. Below is a list of helpful resources that can help protect yourselves and your homes from flooding:
•    If you are at risk of flooding or have been flooded in the past and want to know how to protect your property better, visit the Scottish Flood Forum’s website.
•    Aberdeenshire Council provides information on flood warnings and risk management on their website.
•    If you live in a flood-risk area, ensure you sign-up now for SEPA alerts by calling the Floodline on 0345 9881188 or visiting their website.
•    For help with flood defences, call Aberdeenshire Council at 03456 081205 (Monday-Friday 8.45am - 5pm) or phone Police Scotland on 101 anytime.
•    If you are in an emergency, always call the emergency service at 999.
