Following sustained pressure from the Scottish Conservatives and rural communities, the SNP have u-turned and temporarily lifted the ban on wood-burning stoves.
Prohibiting wood-burning stoves in new homes would have devastating consequences for those who depend on them, particularly during periods of extreme weather.
This long overdue decision is a welcome move, but the SNP have only confirmed a temporary lift of the ban. The Scottish Conservatives will continue to push the SNP to do the right thing and lift the ban permanently.
