The Parliament was on recess for two weeks, beginning on Saturday 7th October. Over the weekend, I helped out with Lesly Berry’s campaign for the Inverurie by-election. I was thrilled to be able to help Lesley secure a win in the election the following Thursday, and she now holds a seat on the Aberdeenshire Council.
On Monday I was out knocking on doors of constituents for my street surgery in Westhill, where I listened to their concerns.
On Tuesday morning, I had the chance to visit Drumoak Primary School. I really enjoyed getting to answer a variety of questions and hope to be able to visit the school again soon.
On Thursday I attended the Dee District Salmon Fishery’s annual general meeting. I received an overview of catches and forecasts for the coming year, and discussed the ongoing threat from Russian Pink Salmon in our waters.
The second week of parliamentary recess was also quite eventful!
On Monday 16th October, I embarked on a street surgery tour, knocking on doors and meeting with constituents in Westhill, Blackburn, and Kintore.
On Tuesday, I held surgeries in Huntly, Insch, and Alford throughout the morning and afternoon.
On Wednesday morning, I held another street surgery tour in Banchory. The next day, I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the Hywind Scotland Floating Wind Farm, which took place at the Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel. This is the world’s first floating wind farm, and its opening is a great achievement for Scotland, demonstrating our continued commitment to renewable energy.
A busy recess with opportunity to catch up on casework and attend local community events. Now back to it for a busy term until Christmas!
