On Monday, I held a street surgery in Aboyne for my constituents so that they could voice local concerns.
On Tuesday, I took part in the debate on Unconventional Oil and Gas to argue against the Scottish Government’s decision to ban fracking. The SNP have decided to uphold a position that will be economically damaging for Scotland, driving away thousands of jobs and economic benefits to communities. If you would like to see my contribution to the debate, please click here.
Later, I took part in the debate on Helicopter Safety in the North Sea to discuss the use of Super Puma helicopters. Thankfully, Airbus have undertaken a series of thorough health and safety checks and changes have been made to the helicopters to prevent any further catastrophe. Airbus should now be allowed time to talk to all companies who use the helicopters so that they have time to speak with workers and reassure them of their safety. On Wednesday morning, I attended my Finance Committee meeting, and in the evening, I was pleased to visit the Glasshouse Hotel for the School of Hard Knocks Launch.
On Thursday, I attended FMQ’s, after which, I was delighted to sponsor the Rotary World Polio Day photocall for MSPs. Thanks to the hard work of Rotary, there are now only 12 remaining cases of polio left worldwide. It is so close to extinction but that does not mean that we can give up now! If you would like to find out more information on what you can do to help fight polio, please click here.
On Friday, it was a pleasure to welcome members of the Scottish Youth Parliament to Holyrood! Our office was able to give a quick behind the scenes tour of the MSP offices to Emma Holmes and Josh MacRae from Aberdeenshire and it was great to hear they were so inspired by their visit. It is fantastic to see so many young people engage with politics and is essential that Scotland actively listens to and values the participation of its children.
